However, when Brock Bowers of the Las Vegas Raiders was asked Sunday about the dance, his postgame press conference abruptly ended. USA Today reporter Safid Deen was the one who posed the question and suggested it was the reason the press conference was cut short.

“I’ve seen everyone do it,” Bowers said, according to Deen. “I watched the UFC fight last night, and Jon Jones did it. I like watching UFC, so I saw it and thought it was cool.”

In the past, the NFL has disavowed political protest, such as the movement in 2016 that had many players, including Colin Kaepernick, kneeling during the national anthem. By 2018, the league required all players to stand for the anthem.

Bowers followed the Tennessee Titans’ Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Calvin Ridley, the San Francisco 49ers’ Leonard Floyd, Sam Okuayinonu, and Nick Bosa, and the Detroit Lions’ Malcolm Rodriguez and Za’Darius Smith in imitating the dance. Clips of other athletes and celebrities dancing similarly have been circulated by Trump’s campaign and supporters.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) shared one such compilation on X Sunday with the caption: “Make America Fun Again.” That video has over 2.5 million views.
