As the sands in the regular season basketball hourglass are winding down, the cream of the crop in the state is rising to the top.
There were very few changes in the latest Trib HSSN boys basketball rankings this week with January in the rearview mirror and the district playoffs within sight.
Only two teams lost their balance and dropped out of the state rankings: Penncrest in Class 5A and Valley View in 4A.
They were replaced by Baldwin and Eastern York.
There were other ranked teams that tasted defeat, but they were able to hang on to their spot in the Top 5 for now.
For the second week in a row, there is a change at the top in 6A.
Roman Catholic is back at No. 1 in 6A this week while Montour is the new top-ranked team in 5A, giving the WPIAL three teams on top with Aliquippa in 3A and Neighborhood Academy in Class A.
