Travis Kelce bought a racehorse recently that shares a name similar to that of his girlfriend, Taylor Swift, because it felt like it was meant to be.
“Did the name prompt interest?” his brother, Jason Kelce, asked on the “New Heights” podcast Wednesday since the 3-year-old gelding is called Swift Delivery.
“I will say, you know, when the stars align, it just feels good to jump on board,” Travis admitted.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end, 34, explained that he had gotten into horse racing to begin with because he is “really good friends” with Bruce Zoldan and Alex Zoldan, who also invested in the horse.
Travis said the Phantom Fireworks CEO and his son invited him to attend the Kentucky Derby back in March, which he remembers as “one of the best times ever.”
While at the annual horse racing event, the NFL star said he thought to himself, “Man, that’d be fun to, like, get involved and see one your horses in the race. That seems like it’d be a fun thing to be a part of.”
After the event, the Zoldan family asked Travis if he wanted to “jump in” on co-owning the young gelding, which the pro football player said just “made sense to team up with this one – it being Swift Delivery.”
“I just got on board because it’s fun and I could team up with a good friend of mine,” he added.
Jason, 36, asked his younger brother whether he examined the horse’s heart to get a better sense of how it would do in races, but Travis responded with a laugh, “I’m not in it to look at the size of the hearts.”
“I liked the way that Swift Delivery ran,” the pro athlete pointed out. “I’ve seen, like, three or four races that Swift Delivery has been in and, sure enough, I heard nothing but great reviews.”
Travis said Swift Delivery is what’s considered a “finishing horse” because it “hits top speed” at the very end “with all the juice that it’s got.”
The Super Bowl champ said his horse’s next race is scheduled to take place within the next two months.
Like Swift Delivery, Travis himself will be back competing soon. The Chiefs’ first game of the 2024 NFL season is set for Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens.
It has not yet been confirmed whether Swift, also 34, will be in attendance at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., but it is possible she will go as she is on hiatus from her Eras Tour until Oct. 18.
On “New Heights,” Travis reassured Jason that he has a ticket for him for the Week 1 game, but said “all the other tickets are f–king sold.”
Travis and Swift have been going strong for more than a year and the former’s team reassured Page Six earlier on Wednesday that an alleged “breakup plan” circulating online was completely fake.
“These documents are entirely false and fabricated and were not created, issued or authorized by this agency,” a spokesperson for Full Scope told Page Six.
A source also exclusively told us that the documents appeared to be part of a school project.
The docs, which were first posted on Snapchat, claimed to have come from a Full Scope employee and noted strategies for the statements the couple would issue after their split and other specific details.
Travis’ rep added to Page Six, however, “We have engaged our legal team to initiate proceedings against the individuals or entities responsible for the unlawful and injurious forgery of documents.”
The last time Travis and Swift were seen spending time together was at her house in Rhode Island in late August for Blake Lively’s birthday.
