A 16-year-old boy tragically died after falling from the seventh floor of an apartment building in eastern Bengaluru on Monday morning. According to the police, the incident occurred at the Mantri Splendor apartment complex in Geddalahalli, between 1:30 am and 5:00 am. The Hennur police suspect that the boy may have jumped from the building, with initial investigations pointing to emotional distress related to not being selected for his college cricket team.

The boy’s parents were at home at the time of the incident. The family lived on the fourth floor of the building, and the teenager was their only child. His father is a tech professional, while his mother is a homemaker. Senior police officers revealed that the boy was a first-year Pre-University College (PUC) student and had been upset about his failure to make the cricket team.
Sources close to the investigation noted that the boy had also requested his parents to change his school, but they had declined, citing the timing during the academic year. The night before the incident, the boy had an argument with his parents and left home, telling them he would return by evening. They later assumed he was at a friend’s place and went to sleep. He returned home late at night, and it is believed he jumped from the building shortly after. No suicide note was found.
An Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been filed, and the body has been handed over to the parents after the autopsy.
