It was a great night for the No. 2 Oregon Ducks in their 32-31 win over the Ohio State Buckeyes on Saturday, but a tough outing for veteran wide receiver Traeshon Holden.

In the second quarter of a close game, Holden was flagged for a flagrant personal foul, and got ejected from the game for spitting on Ohio State defensive back Davison Igbinosun. The action was caught on camera as Igbinosun had to go to the sideline and wipe the spit off of his visor with a towel.

Holden was escorted to the locker room, where cameras caught him on video throwing his helmet in the tunnel.

He would later return to the sideline in street clothes.

After the game, and the Oregon win, Holden took to social media to apologize to both his Duck teammates and to the Ohio State defender.

“My actions were not only disrespectful but also a betrayal of the values of sportsmanship, integrity, and respect that I strive to embody as a student-athlete,” Holden wrote.

Holden goes on to say that he is dedicated to being a better teammate and role model in the community that has welcomed him in Eugene.

So far this season, Holden has been playing some of the best football of his career, hauling in 20 catches for 306 yards and three touchdowns. It is yet to be seen if additional punishment will come for the veteran WR, but that will be determined this week leading up to the Friday game against Purdue.
