The Florida State Seminoles have one of the best transfer portal classes in the country, with 11 players committed and more on the way. The additions have helped shore up the roster but the transfer portal works both ways and they have lost 22 players to the portal.
It needed to happen as Mike Norvell was forced to overhaul his roster after their disastrous 2-10 performance during the 2024 season. Some are a product of the new coaching staff changing what FSU wants to do on both sides of the ball, and a player’s skill set no longer matches the need. While others are a product of a player thinking the new system will not showcase their strengths.
While FSU has brought in some quality players and chance was needed, there were some players they would have liked to hang onto who decided to leave. Here is a look at where each of FSU’s outgoing transfers have signed since leaving the program:
DE Patrick Payton
New School: LSU Tigers

Payton entered the season as a potential first-round pick but struggled all season and will look to get back on track at LSU.
LB Shawn Murphy
New School: South Carolina Gamecocks

Murphy struggled to make an impact in his one season in Tallahassee and is headed back to the SEC.
DT Grady Kelly
New School: Michigan State Spartans

Kelly served as a reserve in his one season with the Seminoles and will look for a bigger role with the Spartans.
QB Luke Kromenhoek
New School: Mississippi State Bulldogs

Kromenhoek is moving on after just one season in Tallahassee as the Seminoles landed a transfer quarterback and are moving to a more run-based offense.
LB DeMarco Ward
New School: Memphis Tigers

Ward spent his time at FSU as a reserve and will have a chance for more playing time with the Tigers.
OL Julian Armella
New School: UCLA Bruins

The FSU Legacy was the first transfer to announce his new school and will look for a starting role with the Bruins after serving as a reserve in Tallahassee.
DL Lamont Green Jr.
New School: FIU Panthers

The FSU legacy did not see the field much in his time with the Seminoles and will have a chance to change that with the Panthers while staying close to home.
WR Destyn Hill
New School: LSU Tigers

Hill signed with FSU in 2021 but did not arrive until 2023 when he cracked the wide receiver rotation. An injury ended his 2024 season before it began and he decided to head back home to Louisiana.
DB Omarion Cooper
New School: Memphis Tigers

Cooper returned to FSU for the 2024 season and spending 2023 with Colorado and is set to play his final season with the Tigers in 2025.
DL Tomiwa Durojaiye
New School: Illinois Fighting Illini

Durojaiye spent just one season in Tallahassee after also making stops at Kentucky and West Virginia. Illinois will be his fourth school as he looking to unlock his potential.
TE Jackson West
New School: Western Kentucky Hilltoppers

West was mostly a special teamer and blocker for FSU and will look to be part of the offense at WKU.
WR Deuce Spann
New School: Pitt Panthers

Spann’s biggest impact at FSU was as a kick returner and he will look to do that with the Panthers.
