MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WMBF) – The Grand Strand will again play host to a major golf event, this time on the collegiate level.
Officials announced Wednesday that TPC Myrtle Beach, located in Murrells Inlet, will be one of six host sites for the 2027 NCAA Division I Men’s Golf Tournament.
Coastal Carolina University is designated as the host school for the regional and will host alongside the Myrtle Beach Sports Alliance.
It will mark the third time an NCAA golf regional has come to Myrtle Beach and the first since 2019. TPC Myrtle Beach hosted the last event, while the first was held in 1989 at the Long Bay Golf Club.
TPC Myrtle Beach also hosted the 2000 Senior PGA Championship a year after opening and has since received 18 national awards. It’s also home to the Dustin Johnson Golf School, named after former Masters and U.S. Open champion who is also a CCU alum.
While no dates were announced for the 2027 event, the NCAA’s golf tournaments are typically held in May.
