Toyota Texas is expanding its footprint in San Antonio with construction of a new plant facility and bringing hundreds of new jobs with it.
The automaker is building a 500,000-square-foot facility at its South Side plant where it will begin in-house production of rear axles for the Sequoia SUVs and Tundra pickup trucks that it builds in San Antonio.
Along with the new facility, Toyota Texas will be adding 400 new jobs at the plant. This will bring the Toyota plant’s total workforce up to more than 4,000 people.
Documents that Toyota Texas submitted to the City of San Antonio and Bexr County for tax breaks earlier this year indicate the base wage will be $20.54, with an average salary of about $68,000, San Antonio Express-News reported.
Toyota has partnered with local trade program to find new talent. The automaker is also launching a new program to provide on-the-job training to hires.

A new Academy Sports + Outdoors store is slated to open in Bulverde, just outside of San Antonio, in November. The store is expected to bring an estimated 60 new jobs to the community. Academy is currently hiring for positions at the Bulverde store, as well as other locations.
