GEORGETOWN TWP., MI — An immersive indoor golf center and bar is in the works for Georgetown Township.
Wyoming resident Ryan Snyder is embarking on his first business venture with Dunes Golf and Bar, according to the business application for Georgetown Charter Township. The new indoor golf center will be located at 7561 Cottonwood Drive in Jenison, which is currently home to a Fitness 19 center.
Snyder’s tentative plan calls for six Golfzon indoor gold simulators, a full-service bar, a lounge area and lockers.
Indoor golf centers are a growing trend all over Michigan. Grand Rapids alone has seen such recent additions as Brandon Roby Golf Performance Center on 28th Street and Pickle x Pin preparing to open in October, but Snyder said Dunes Golf and Bar will offer golf fans a completely unique experience.
“These are going to be totally different simulators than what you get in the rest of the Grand Rapids area,” he said of the Golfzon simulators.
Golfzon simulators feature a moving swing plate to mimic elevation changes like when the golfer is swinging on the side of a hill, according to the company’s website.
Other features of the simulators include high-speed sensors, a touch screen monitor kiosk and an auto-tee and ball retrieval system.
“It’s a totally different experience than just hitting off a mat, then walking up to the screen and grabbing your ball,” Snyder said.
Snyder said his full vision for the space has yet to take shape. Construction has not yet begun on the space, and the Fitness 19 center is still open, but Snyder said he hopes to complete the buildout by the first week of November.
“There’s not a ton of building that has to happen, so that helps,” he said. “It’s more just getting the bar built.”
Georgetown Charter Township last week approved Dunes Golf and Bar’s application for a liquor license, and Snyder said he’s now seeking state approval.
