Tom Brady is now a minority owner of an NFL franchise.
The legendary quarterback was approved by NFL owners as a limited partner of the Las Vegas Raiders at the league’s fall meetings on Tuesday. Brady will own a five percent stake, though he and his partner completed a total purchase of 10 percent.
Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer reported that Brady’s ownership stake was approved by a unanimous 32-0 vote from NFL owners.
Along with Brady, Hall of Fame defensive lineman Richard Seymour also acquired a small stake in the Raiders on Tuesday, per ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Seymour posted the following on social media:
“I’m deeply grateful—humbled and honored—to become a NFL owner,” he said in the post. “This is the mission of a lifetime, and I accept it with both purpose and pride. With great opportunity comes great responsibility. And I pledge to be a worthy steward of our game—and all it makes possible.”

Seymour played for the Raiders from 2009 to 2012, when he retired.
Last year, Brady became a minority owner of the WNBA’s Las Vegas Aces, another team owned by Davis.
With the possibility of Brady becoming a minority owner of the Raiders, the NFL placed restrictions on his broadcasting access ahead of the 2024 NFL season. Brady, who is in his first season as an NFL color commentator for Fox Sports, is not permitted to attend in-person or online broadcast production meetings and does not have access to team facilities, players or coaches. The rest of the Fox staff still has full access.
Brady also has to follow the NFL constitution and bylaws that prevent public criticism of officials and other teams, meaning he cannot disagree with a call while on the air.
The Raiders, who now have a seven-time champion in their front office, are off to a 2-4 start to the season with wins over the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns.
