Week 9 in the NFL begins with an AFC matchup between the Houston Texans and New York Jets.
We get to watch an old friend this week as Davante Adams suits up for the Jets. However, Adams’ reunion with Aaron Rodgers hasn’t gone well as New York is 0-2 since the wide receiver’s arrival and the team owns a 2-6 record overall. On the other sideline, C.J. Stroud and the Texans have won four of their last five games and have a two-game lead in the AFC South as the team looks to bolster its playoff résumé.

Originally, I was going to pick the Texans since they are the better and more complete team. However, that was before it was announced that Stefon Diggs tore an ACL and is out for the year. With Diggs and Nico Collins out, I don’t think Houston has enough firepower on offense, and playing on a short week doesn’t help when it comes to figuring out how to replace Diggs’ production. So, it wouldn’t surprise me to see the Jets have a “get right” game tonight.
For the injury report, the Texans have ruled safety Jimmie Ward (groin), offensive lineman Jarrett Patterson (concussion), running back Dameon Pierce (groin) and linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair (knee) out. The Jets will be without safety Tony Adams (hamstring), safety Ashtyn Davis (concussion), defensive lineman Leki Fotu (knee), wide receiver Allen Lazard (chest), linebacker C.J. Mosley (neck), and offensive lineman Alijah Vera-Tucker (ankle).
