TGL, the new high-tech golf league supported by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, debuted Tuesday night, Jan. 7, from the new SoFi Center on the Palm Beach Gardens campus of Palm Beach State College.
The three-month inaugural season teed off with New York Golf Club — featuring world No. 2 Xander Schauffele and Rickie Fowler — against The Bay Golf Club, led by a pair of the PGA Tour’s rising stars in Wyndham Clark and Ludvig Aberg.
“The most fun we ever had playing golf,” Bay GC players Wyndham Clark and Shane Lowry both said following Tuesday’s match.
With Woods and McIlroy in attendance, an emcee tried to get the 1,500 fans inside the sold-out arena to forget everything they learned about golf etiquette, reminding them it’s OK to scream.
“This is not a golf course, this is not a country club,” he said. “This is a real club.”
