Johannes, who was 4-for-4 this year before finishing second in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, worked Thursday for trainer Tim Yakteen.
The 4-year-old Nyquist colt went five furlongs in 1:00.6, the sixth fastest of 14 at the distance. It was his second work since the Breeders’ Cup after going four furlongs in 48.0 seconds a week ago.
All of Johannes’s wins this year came in graded stakes, including his first Grade 1 win in the Shoemaker Mile in May.
Johannes was one of nine graded-stakes winners with published works on Thursday.

Chatalas (Gun Runner), a Grade 2 winner (2023 Chandelier), worked four furlongs in 49.8 seconds at Santa Anita on Thursday morning. It was the 32nd fastest of 45 works at the distance. Her previous work was 12 days ago going five furlongs at Santa Anita. In her last start, she placed third in the Seneca Overnight going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Churchill Downs on Sept. 21 for trainer Grant Forster.
Ready to Purrform (Kitten’s Joy), a Grade 2 winner (2022 National Museum of Racing Hall of Fame), worked five furlongs in 1:01.0 at Delta Downs on Thursday morning. It was the fastest of seven works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start, he placed 12th in a claiming race going one mile on the turf at Fair Grounds on Nov. 24 for trainer Dane Noel.
Yes I Am Free (Uncaptured), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2023 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint, 2022 Gulfstream Park Turf Sprint), worked four furlongs in 50.6 seconds at Payson Park on Thursday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 10 works at the distance. His previous work was 11 days ago going four furlongs at Payson Park.
