Gun Song, who hasn’t had a start since October, continued working Thursday at Gulfstream Park.

The 4-year-old Gun Runner filly breezed five furlongs in 1:01.6, second fastest of four at the distance.

Gun Song won two stakes last year, including the Grade 2 Black-Eyed Susan, and had runner-up efforts in the Monmouth Oaks (G3), Cotillion (G1), where she missed by a neck behind eventual horse of the year Thorpedo Anna, and Mother Goose (G2). She was a head short of Tarifa in the Mother Goose, and she got a break after that start.

She returned to training in January and has been working weekly for the most part since.

Gun Song was one of five graded-stakes winners with published works Thursday.

Gun Song (Gun Runner), a Grade 2 winner (2024 Black-Eyed Susan), worked five furlongs in 1:01.6 at Gulfstream Park on Thursday morning. It was the second fastest of four works at the distance. Her previous work was eight days ago going four furlongs at Gulfstream Park. In her last start she placed second in the Mother Goose (G2) going 1 1/8 miles on the main track at Belmont at the Big A on Oct. 26 for trainer Mark Hennig.

High Oak (Gormley), a Grade 2 winner (2021 Saratoga Special), worked four furlongs in 50.5 seconds at Belmont Park on Thursday morning. It was the fourth fastest of 21 works at the distance. His previous work was 10 days ago going four furlongs at Belmont Park. In his last start he placed second in an allowance race going seven furlongs on the main track at Aqueduct on Jan. 6 for trainer Bill Mott.

Skelly (Practical Joke), a two-time Grade 3 winner (2024 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap, 2023 Count Fleet Sprint Handicap), worked four furlongs in 50.6 seconds at Fair Grounds on Thursday morning. It was the 38th fastest of 50 works at the distance. His previous work was seven days ago going three furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he placed 10th in the Breeders’ Cup Sprint going six furlongs on the main track at Del Mar on Nov. 2 for trainer Steve Asmussen.

La Mehana (Al Wukair), a Grade 3 winner (2024 Waya), worked five furlongs in 1:03.1 at Payson Park on Thursday morning. It was the fifth fastest of six works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed third in the La Prevoyante (G3) going 1 1/2 miles on the turf at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 25 for trainer Christophe Clement.

Miles Ahead (Competitive Edge), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Smile Sprint Invitational), worked five furlongs in 1:01.6 at Fair Grounds on Thursday morning. It was the eighth fastest of 13 works at the distance. His previous work was 12 days ago going four furlongs at Fair Grounds. In his last start he won the Thanksgiving Classic going six furlongs on the main track at Fair Grounds on Nov. 28 for trainer Paul McGee.

Wednesday

Three graded-stakes winners worked Wednesday.

Nothing Like You (Malibu Moon), a two-time Grade 2 winner (2024 Santa Anita Oaks, 2023 Starlet), worked three furlongs in 36.8 seconds at Los Alamitos on Wednesday morning. It was the faster of two works at the distance. This was her first work since her last race. In her last start she placed fourth in the Zenyatta (G2) going 1 1/16 miles on the main track at Santa Anita on Sept. 29 for trainer Bob Baffert.

Danse Macabre (Army Mule), a Grade 3 winner (2023 Herecomesthebride), worked four furlongs in 49.2 seconds at Payson Park on Wednesday morning. It was the faster of two works at the distance. Her previous work was 20 days ago going four furlongs at Turfway Park. In her last start she placed eighth in the Ladies Turf Sprint (G2) going 6 1/2 furlongs on the turf at Kentucky Downs on Aug. 31 for trainer Kelsey Danner.

Freeport Joe (English Channel), a Grade 3 winner (2021 Berkeley Handicap), worked four furlongs in 48.0 seconds at Pleasanton on Wednesday morning. It was the fifth fastest of 17 works at the distance. This was his first work since his last race. In his last start he placed sixth in an allowance race going one mile on the turf at Santa Anita on Feb. 1 for trainer Gloria Haley.
