Johannes, runner-up last out in the Breeders’ Cup Mile, was among 13 graded-stakes winners who worked Thursday morning.
The 4-year-old Nyquist colt went five furlongs in 1:01.6 at Santa Anita for trainer Tim Yakteen, 11th fastest of 25 at the distance.
Johannes had won four straight graded stakes before finishing second by 3/4 length to More Than Looks in the Mile. Daily Racing Form reported last month that he could be pointed to the Grade 1 Pegasus World Cup Turf on Jan. 25, with a possible prep in the San Gabriel (G2) at Santa Anita on Dec. 26.
