If there is one thing Michigan football fans have learned over the years it’s that quarterback recruiting can get complicated.
Brady Hart, a four-star, top-100 quarterback in the 2026 class committed to Michigan football over the summer, and the future seemed extremely bright for the Wolverines QB room.
Carter Smith was also committed in the 2025 class. Smith was another four-star QB from Florida. But after Michigan football made its move for Underwood, who did flip from LSU, things have changed.
Smith decommitted before Underwood flipped. He’s now going to sign with Wisconsin. But on Friday, there are another bit of a news, although it probably shouldn’t come as a shock, as four-star QB Brady Hart has flipped to Texas A&M and re-classifieid for the 2025 class.
I won’t act like it’s not a gut punch. It is. Hart is 6-foot-4, had the perfect name to be a Michigan football quarterback and even seemed to despise Ohio State.
But Bryce Underwood is a generational talent. You have to go after him and even though Hart said it didn’t impact his recruitment, kids nowadawys don’t want to sit and wait. If Underwood started as a freshman, Hart would have had to wait until his third year at Michigan to get on the field.
There’s also talk of Michigan football bringing in a transfer to potentially start next season. So if Underwood doesn’t start and uses a redshirt (not likely but possible) then it would be another year for Hart to wait.
I’m actually glad that he flipped to Texas A&M instead of Ohio State or Penn State or another team in the Big Ten. It stinks, but it’s the cost of doing business.
