If you’re daydreaming about green grass and being out on the golf course again, Golfweek recommends you picture yourself on this one.
Golfweek just released its top 200 best resort golf courses for 2025, and one Vermont course ranked in the top 200 of the list: Okemo Valley.
The course, which opened in 2000, ranked at No. 198.
“This list focuses on the golf courses themselves, not the resorts as a whole or other amenities,” Golfweek said.
To make the list, more than 800 raters rank the courses on a 10 criteria on a 10 point scale. It’s a rigorous process, and Golfweek says there are no perfect 10s.
“Only eight courses around the world with enough qualifying votes to appear on our top lists in 2024 are rated above a 9. An average rating above 8 indicates an incredible golf course. Anything above a 7 is worth traveling great distances to experience,” they said. “Courses with an average rating of 6 to 7 are probably the best course in most cities and in several examples are the top layout in an entire state.”
The Okemo Valley course, 89 Fox Ln., received an average rating of 5.94. It’s the fourth highest rated course in New England. It is also known as the Fox Run Golf Club.
“Fox Run Golf Club is an 18-hole championship golf course and 10-acre practice facility featuring a 4-hole short course, and full driving range,” the Fox Run website said. “The par 70 layout is 6,400 yards in length and features dramatic elevation change through rolling terrain outlined by fescue native areas that enhance the heathland layout.”
It tied with the Stonewall Resort in West Virginia.
“Nestled in the heart of the Okemo Valley, Fox Run Golf Club stands as a testament to nature’s harmonious collaboration with the art of golf,” the website said. “This picturesque golf course is a haven for enthusiasts, offering a captivating blend of challenging greens and breathtaking scenery.”
