OLMSTED FALLS, Ohio — Despite the cold winter weather, spring and summer youth sports are busy preparing their programs and opening their registrations.
And this year there’s a new kid on the block — the Olmsted Falls Girls Flag Football program.
Olmsted Falls Girls Flag Football is partnering with Bulldog Youth Football and is a member of GridIron Girls Flag Football.
It’s open to girls in grades 1-6 in the Olmsted Falls City School District.
The program provides girls the opportunity to learn and enjoy the game of football while developing skills, mastering fundamentals and learning teamwork.
To register, visit www.olmstedcc.com.
In addition to the younger grades, the program is also partnering with the Cleveland Browns for a seventh- and eighth-grade division.
This age bracket has a separate registration. Please contact the organization at 517-745-9730 or email ofgirlsfootball@gmail.com for detailed information.
Ryan Shircliff is leading the charge as president of the program. Rounding out the leadership are some familiar names on the Olmsted sports scene: Matt Reifsnyder, Tom Cieker and Ryan Schaupp.
It’s a line-up sure to bring success to the startup.
Baseball, softball and lacrosse: And even as the fields are covered in snow and the wind is whipping across the pitchers’ mounds, the Olmsted Community Summer League (OCSL) has all 10 of its divisions open for registration.
The league offers baseball and fastpitch softball for boys ages 4-18 and girls ages 4-15. One of the most popular programs is Coed Tykes T-Ball for ages 4 and 5.
OCSL is also hiring umpires for the upcoming season. You can email inquiries to OCSLUmpires@gmail.com.
And the Olmsted Falls Lacrosse Association (OFLA) is highly encouraging new players to come try the sport.
OFLA has Bantam teams for grades 3-4. Next is their youth teams, for grades 5-6, then the middle school teams for seventh- and eighth-graders.
Both organizations use the Olmsted Community Center for their registrations. Visit www.olmstedcc.com or call 440-427-1599 to secure your child’s spot!
