There’s a lot of money in the game of golf. Look no further than the LIV Golf League.
As the Saudi Arabia-backed circuit nears the finish line of its third year of competition, there remains one thing the league is well known for: the amount of money behind it. Playing on the LIV Golf League is a good payday. Play well, and it becomes lucrative.
With a $20 million purse each week, winners of the 13 regular-season events took home $4 million, and even last-place finishers in the 54-man competitions netted a $50,000 payday.
Compared to the PGA Tour during the 2024 season, both leagues saw five players earn eight-figure paydays thanks to their on-course performance. And at the end of the day, with all official and unofficial earnings, Scottie Scheffler earned more dinero than the leading LIV Golf player, though that’s expected with one of the best seasons all-time.
That doesn’t take away from what was an incredibly profitable year for numerous players on LIV Golf, including Jon Rahm, the marquee signing for the league last offseason. He won the season-long individual championship on Sunday and pocketed the $18 million bonus that comes with it.
