The second week of the fall season was a tough one for Algonquin Athletics.
Algonquin’s Cross Country teams both won their opening meets at home last week. The Girls beat Shepherd Hill 26-36 and the Boys 21-39.
Five games in, Titans Field Hockey is still undefeated. Last week, the girls beat Acton-Boxborough (2-0), Leominster (5-1), and Hopkinton (2-1).
Beyond that, Titans suffered more losses than wins last week.
Girls Volleyball added a third win (3-0 over Minnechaug) but lost their fourth and fifth games 3-2 to Wachusett and 1-3 to Acton-Boxborough. That lowered their record to 3-2.
Girls Soccer beat Leominster 4-0 in their second game. But, the win was followed by losses to Shrewsbury (1-0) and Sutton (3-0). They now stand at 1-3.
Boys Soccer added two more losses (5-2 to Leominster and 4-1 to Sutton) and another tie (2-2 with Shrewsbury). They now stand at 1-2-2.
Boys Golf has been on a losing streak. After their season opening win, they lost the following four meets, including last week’s to Nashoba and Shrewsbury.
Football lost its second game of the season, 31-14 to Doherty. It’s worth noting that the team they beat in last week’s opener, Nashoba, was also the only team they had beaten during the regular season last year.
At least fans seemed to still be having fun in their new stadium, based on the photos captured by Owen Jones Photography. You can check those out here.
Now, here are the ARHS varsity games on tap for the week:
Reminder, tickets for any games which require them (Basketball, Hockey, etc.) are sold here.
