‘The Victim Of The Tiger Attack is My Aunt’: Indian Cricketer Confirms Shocking News (Source: X/WPL)
Indian cricketer Minnu Mani‘s aunt was killed in a tiger attack in Kerala’s Wayanad. The development was confirmed by Minnu Mani who took to social media to express shock at the incident. “This news is quite shocking; I just found out about it. The victim of the tiger attack in Pancharak is my uncle’s wife,” Minnu wrote as quoted by ONmanorama.
Radha, 48, was brutally attacked by a tiger on Friday while harvesting coffee beans. Her death caused massive protests in the state, forcing the government to announce that the tiger would be shot dead if the officers fail to capture it alive.
Meanwhile, Mani called for safety of the people in the area and hoped that the tiger was caught soon. “I hope the aggressive tiger is caught soon, ensuring the safety of the people and their property in the region,” she added.
Wayanad MP Priyanka Gandhi also expressed shock at the incident and offered condolence to the affected family. Meanwhile, the state government announced immediate financial assistance of ₹5 lakh for Radha’s family.
“I am deeply saddened by the tragic loss of Smt. Radha, who was killed by a tiger while harvesting coffee in Pancharakolly, Mananthavady. My heartfelt condolences to her family. There is an immediate need for sustainable solutions to address this pressing issue,” she wrote.
Meanwhile, Minnu Mani has played three ODIs and four T20Is for India where she took three and five wickets respectively. In Women’s Premier League (WPL), she plays for Delhi Capitals. She has represented the franchise in eight games, taking three wickets. Having made her T20I debut in 2023, Minnu was picked in the ODI squad for the Australia tour in December 2024. She made her debut in the 2nd ODI in Brisbane and delivered an emphatic performance, top-scoring for India with a gritty 46 and taking two wickets with the ball.
