The Simmons Strong Foundation is thrilled to announce the 4th Annual Simmons Strong Golf Tournament, set to take place on Monday, March 31st, at Forest Heights Country Club.
Founded in January 2022, the Simmons Strong Foundation honors the legacy of Jim “Slim” Simmons, a beloved coach and teacher at Statesboro High School and Effingham County High School. After a courageous decade-long battle with cancer, Slim’s family, friends, and colleagues established the foundation to support individuals and families facing similar hardships and to offer scholarships to local student-athletes.
Over the past three years, the foundation has made a significant impact, helping countless families with essential needs such as food, rent, and transportation, allowing them to focus on what truly matters during challenging times. Additionally, the foundation has awarded $35,000 in scholarships to deserving student-athletes, all made possible through the generous support of the community.
