The Italian has been world number one for 35 weeks, with Alcaraz backing Sinner as the best player in the world following his latest major triumph.

Despite this, Alcaraz was unbeaten against Sinner in 2024 after winning all three of their matches including the China Open final.

Sinner and Alcaraz may lead the way in terms of ATP players born in the 21st century, but they are not the only ones winning titles.

Felix Auger-Aliassime wins seventh ATP title in Montpellier

Felix Auger-Aliassime, who was born in 2000, has won his seventh ATP title after beating American Aleksandar Kovacevic in a third set tie-break in the Montpellier.

It has been a particularly strong start to the season for Auger-Aliassime, since splitting from Toni Nadal, having also lifted the trophy in Adelaide in January.

As a result, Auger-Aliassime has stepped ahead of Sebastian Baez (6) as the player born in the 21st century with the third most ATP titles behind Sinner (19) and Alcaraz (16).

Apart from his victory in Adelaide, all of Auger-Aliassime’s titles have come on indoor hard courts.

Three of these came in consecutive weeks back in 2022, but Auger-Aliassime was titleless last year.

Auger-Aliassime had actually lost his first eight ATP finals, but since then has won seven of his last nine.

What is next for Felix Auger-Aliassime?

Auger-Aliassime will not have much time to celebrate his latest title victory, as he moves onto his next tournament at the ATP 500 Rotterdam Open.

This tournament is also played on indoor hard courts, and was actually Auger-Aliassime’s first title that he won three years ago.

The 24-year-old will look to continue his winning streak when he plays his first round match against qualifier Andrea Vavassori.

Following the Rotterdam Open, Auger-Aliassime will then move outside and is scheduled to play two tournaments in the Middle East.

Auger-Aliassime reached the Doha semi-finals in 2023, but has never made it past the second round in Dubai.
