New Moons are a time for rejuvenation and manifestation. If you have a lack in your life, then this is the time to fill it through a new experience, person, or item. We must make space for beginnings and foolish behavior during New Moons. Mind you, we are all fools when beginning something new, so don’t be scared to get experimental.
For newbies, a New Moon is when the Moon and the Sun meet, forming what astrologers call a conjunction. As an astrology practitioner, I’m all about precision because cutting through diamonds is possible. New Moons are a time for setting intentions and goals to manifest. Take the theme of each new moon as inspiration to bring forth the best version of yourself! If you find your horoscope helpful or have any questions, please tag me on social media @monishaholmes.
Sometimes, the blocks on which we’ve built our lives fall apart without all that much warning. Naturally, abrupt endings can feel incredibly disappointing. The fear comes from a lack of knowledge about what to do next. How are you supposed to plan for a rainy day when you’re watching the flood rise? What do you do with your savings when you have nothing else left? Although some of you may feel like your home is in flames, I invite you to calm your tender hearts by connecting with your inner peace. Easier said than done, I know. On November 1st, 2024, at 8:47 AM Eastern Time, the Moon will willfully connect with the Sun and form the New Moon in Scorpio. Tightly atop each other, the Moon and Sun represent your career-defining phoenix moment—along with the scorpion, the phoenix is one of the symbols representing Scorpio.
Mentioned in Greek, Egyptian, and Arabian lore, the phoenix is fabled to live for 500 or more years. As the story goes, once the phoenix reaches the end of its life, the fiery bird begins its flight to Heliopolis, Egypt, known as the “City of the Sun.” There, the phoenix builds a nest out of cinnamon twigs and resin on top of the Temple of the Sun. As the Sun blankets itself over the phoenix’s nest, the weary bird transcends our realm, setting itself, the resin, and spice all aflame.
Hope might feel lost; there is no new chapter for that old phoenix. And like the old phoenix, many of us are undergoing irreversible changes. There is no going backward, no bargaining, and no compromises. On November 1, as the New Moon forms a trine with Saturn in Pisces, it’s time to gratefully accept that we’ve reached the end of an era. As Saturn’s influence suggests, this transition might feel challenging, uncomfortable, and painful. However, it is only through discomfort that a renewed baby phoenix can emerge from the ashes and fly back to Arabia. You, too, will soar.
Aries, you feel a deep urge to be seen and truly understood, but that kind of intimacy can’t come when you skip the hard parts. The New Moon in Scorpio invites you to go deeper, but you might find yourself resisting the spiritual work needed to truly evolve. Spiritual bypassing—trying to leap to the next level without doing the necessary shadow work—won’t get you what you seek. The closeness you crave will flow naturally when you take time for solitude and inner work. It’s not about controlling the outcome; it’s about welcoming it with an open heart.
This New Moon is lighting up the relationship sector of your birth chart, and it’s a beautiful time for deeper connections. But be careful not to overextend yourself or get lost in the hustle, because that could cause you to miss out on something meaningful. The cosmos are challenging you to truly see others beyond the surface. When you allow yourself to witness people in their full depth, they’ll do the same for you. Shallow connections might feel easier, but it’s the deep, intimate bonds that will bring the richness you truly crave.
Gemini, it’s time to dig deep. Pay attention to the habits and routines you’ve been cruising through on autopilot. You might feel like you’re in a constant state of flow, but that flow could be causing you to miss out on foundational needs that are key to becoming the best version of yourself. The answers you’re looking for can be found in your career and the way you’re leading others. If you’re not getting the respect or connections you need to thrive, pause and assess what’s missing. Once you identify where your needs aren’t being met, you can begin to truly transform.
Cancer, the doors are wide open for some beautiful flirtation. You might find yourself connecting with someone who understands you on a deep level. If you’re already in a relationship, this connection could stir things up, possibly with someone new. I challenge you to reflect on whether you want to keep things secretive, or whether you’re ready to have the deep conversations that come with true intimacy. If you’re single, pay attention to how you flirt—it can reveal a lot about what you’re truly seeking from an intellectual and romantic partner.
Leo, this New Moon is calling you to focus on your home life and reflect on the items you’ve held onto. As you sort through your space, you might find yourself wondering, “What was I thinking?” Instead of judging your past choices, pause and reflect. What did these things mean to you at the time? What experiences shaped those decisions? By taking the time to understand why certain things mattered to you, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of who you were then, who you are now, and just how far you’ve come.
Your relationships might feel like a bit of a storm right now—whether it’s because of your own expectations or other people’s ideas weighing on you. Things may seem cloudy, but I encourage you to go back to the basics. Think about how you interacted with relationships as a child and how the adults around you acted. What behaviors were normalized for you? How did you play house? By reflecting on these early experiences, you’ll start to understand the habits and beliefs that shape what you need in your relationships now.
Babe, you’ve been working so hard to balance all your responsibilities, but making sure you’re getting what you deserve is starting to feel like a struggle. You might love what you do, and maybe you even love helping others, but your health could be taking a hit from how much you’re extending yourself while receiving so little. It’s time to be real with yourself and set some boundaries. Let go of the idea that you need to be invincible. You’re allowed to prioritize yourself. If you need rest, then rest—it’s okay to put yourself first.
You’ve hit the ground running, Scorpio. Yes, it hurts when you feel like you’re on the verge of your next big breakthrough, but you must watch all you’ve created go up in flames first. Trusting that you have engineered yourself into the right position requires giving yourself a lot of credit and a load of slack. Imagine if evolution was seamless—then, maybe we wouldn’t notice it. This New Moon calls for you to practice self-appreciation.
Just when you think you can dwell in despair, the New Moon asks you to practice imani. Imani is a Swahili word of Arabic origin, meaning faith. The word comes from the term “Imam,” which in the Muslim religion is a title given to a person who leads others through worship and prayer. While you may not take any religious vows, you’ll be surprised how you begin to stand out as a leader within your community.
As the New Moon lights up your house of goals and community, you are being welcomed to look at the dreams and ambitions that make up your to-do list. Capricorn, instead of focusing on whether you can satisfy your thirst for eminence, spend some time thinking about how you can maintain a streak of success. The key to your goals is closely tied to how you express your emotions and ego.
Aquarius, you’ve been quietly laying the groundwork for a major career shift, and with the New Moon in Scorpio, things are finally coming to fruition. This is the turning point you’ve been thinking about for some time. Don’t be surprised if the path forward requires a short-term sacrifice, whether it’s a pay cut or feeling a bit uneasy about your financial situation. The discomfort is only temporary. Trust that this new phase in your career will bring long-term rewards. Your willingness to take the plunge now will set you up for greater success down the line.
Pisces, sometimes the hardest part of growth is letting go of who you thought you were. As this New Moon in Scorpio illuminates your path, you’re being invited to challenge old beliefs that have kept you in a comfortable yet limiting space. Taking in new ideas and embracing fresh perspectives might feel uncomfortable at first, but this is your chance to transcend the version of yourself that no longer serves you. To truly evolve, you’ll need to be okay with leaving parts of your past behind. Trust that what’s ahead is far more aligned with your higher self.
