This NBA legend recorded a triple-double with the fewest points in NBA history.
Over the years, the likes of Russell Westbrook and Nikola Jokic have made recording a triple-double seem like a child’s play.
However, that’s not the case, recording the unique stat line is an incredible achievement in the game of basketball.
Speaking of which, ever wondered who has recorded the weirdest triple-double of all time? Let’s take a look at it.
The most common triple-doubles have players scoring at least 10 points, rebounds, and assists in a game.
But Golden State Warriors legend Draymond Green broke that custom in February 2017 against the Memphis Grizzlies. The 4x NBA champion finished the game with a triple-double, but he had a historic stat line.
Yes, Green recorded his triple-double while scoring just 4 points. How? Well, he had 11 rebounds, 10 assists, and 10 steals in the Warriors’ 122-107 win.
To this day, Green holds the record for getting a triple-double with fewer than 10 points. It shows Draymond is not your average player and is a key reason behind the dominance of the Dubs dynasty during the 2010s.
There’s no doubt it was an unusual stat line, but Green never felt that way. He didn’t even realize he had so many steals until the halftime.
“I wouldn’t necessarily say I felt like it’s an unusual game because I don’t score every night. I didn’t even know I had that many steals. I think when I did the halftime interview, they told me I had seven steals. But I don’t really keep track of those things, I just try to play the game,” Draymond said in 2017.
Another key aspect of Green’s performance was that he was just six points shy of a quadruple-double. Was achieving that every on Dray’d mind?
“I don’t really care about the score. I’d rather get a triple-double that way than a quadruple-double anyway,” Green added.
Looking back at the selfless nature of Green, it was an excellent sign of leadership. Young players in the league should take note of that and aspire to become a selfless star like Green.
