The CW Network has named Michael Perman as senior vp, sports.
Perman, a former NBC Sports exec who most recently served as senior vp, global media rights at media agency Aggregate Sports, will oversee programming and media rights for CW Sports, already home to WWE NXT and the NASCAR Xfinity Series.
The CW, now owned by Nexstar, is continuing to revamp its programming lineup by making a pivot to sports, including college football and basketball. Perman will report to CW Network president Brad Schwartz and be based in New York City.
“I am thrilled to be able to deliver first-class sports programming across The CW’s ubiquitously available broadcast and digital platforms while fostering strong and enduring relationships within the sports world. Together, we will continue to transform the network into a premier destination for fans, offering dynamic live sporting events and engaging programming,” Perman said in a statement.
While with the NBC Sports Group, Perman was vp of programming for NBC and NBCSN, and before the merger of Comcast and NBC Universal was director of scheduling for the Comcast-owned cable sports channel.
“As our sports programming schedule continues to grow at a breakneck pace, we are excited to bring a consummate pro like Mike Perman to our team of experienced industry executives, producers, and talent who are leading the charge to transform The CW into a must-see destination for live sporting events,” Schwartz said in his own statement.
CW Sports also offers sports programming like ACC, Pac12, Grand Slam Track and Inside The NFL.
