Tiger Woods said “my mom was my rock” on Sunday when he appeared in the CBS broadcast booth on the 18th green at Torrey Pines South Course in San Diego for the final round of the Genesis Invitational. He was supposed to make his 2025 PGA Tour debut there, and withdrew last week after the sudden death of his mother, Kultida Woods. “I’m just not ready,” Woods explained in a statement released on social media at the time.

But golf fans won’t have to wait long to see him swing a golf club again.

“My goal was to play more and I haven’t played. Got to work on that,” Woods told Jim Nantz of CBS . “This process was unexpected so I’ll get back after it and look forward to playing some bigger events.”

That process starts as soon as Tuesday when Woods is scheduled to play with Jupiter Links Golf Club as part of TGL action. Jupiter Links, which features Woods, Max Homa, Tom Kim and Kevin Kisner, will face Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Young of New York Golf Club. Woods and Rory McIlroy were the most prominent investors in the new league, which mixes aspects of traditional and simulator golf in a team format.

When is Tiger Woods playing?

Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club takes on New York GC in a highly anticipated primetime matchup on Tuesday, Feb. 18 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN. Woods’ team, which also features Max Homa, Tom Kim and Kevin Kisner, will be facing Xander Schauffele, Rickie Fowler, Matt Fitzpatrick and Cameron Young. Schauffele has been dealing with a rib injury of late.

TGL format

TGL pits two teams of three players against each other in a mix of simulator and traditional golf. Players tee off from a mat into a 64-by-53-foot screen. There are fairway, rough and sand surfaces to hit from, as well. When the ball lands about 50 yards away from the pin, players transition to the “Green Zone,” a 3,800-square-foot green that can be adjusted for variety on each hole. To increase the pressure, a shot clock is set for 40 seconds; any violation of this time limits results in a one-stroke penalty.

The teams play nine holes of 3-on-3, alternate shot golf. Then, the three members of each team will each play two holes of head-to-head match play with each hole worth one point. If they remain tied, the match goes to an overtime, closest-to-the-pin competition. The overtime continues until one team has the two closest shots.

Teams are awarded two points in the standings for a win, one point for an overtime loss and no points for a loss. The top four teams advance to the TGL semifinals.
