Golf’s Florida Swing starts a few days early with a TGL doubleheader. These matches will be at the SoFi Center, just 5 miles west of PGA National, the site of this weekend’s Cognizant Classic PGA Tour event.

Three golfers tonight will also hit the links Thursday. Rickie Fowler and Cameron Young of New York Golf Club faces Los Angeles Golf Club in the opening match, while Billy Horschel will suit up for Atlanta Drive GC against Boston Common Golf.

Tony Finau will play on a one-match deal with LAGC, while TGL co-founder Rory McIlroy plays for Boston Common. The other co-founder, Tiger Woods, won’t play Tuesday when his team takes its turn.

After the first two shots from each club left Rickie Fowler and Sahith Theegala more than 25 feet away each, Fowler didn’t care about the distance. He nailed a long birdie putt for New York, prompting an immediate hammer throw, which is a rare sight for New York. After all, the New York club had thrown the hammer the fewest number of times of any team in the TGL heading into tonight’s matchup.

Theegala didn’t even bother, as LA gave New York the hole and the early 1-0 lead.

Both of today’s matches will air on ESPN2. Matt Barrie will have the play-by-play with Scott Van Pelt as the show’s host and Marty Smith reporting from the SoFi Center. Streaming options include ESPN+ and Fubo, which offers a free trial for new subscribers.

TGL stands for TMRW Golf League, a competitive league of interactive golf started by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and Mike McCarley, CEO of TMRW Sports. The league is made of current PGA Tour members, including major champions and those in the top-10 world rankings.

Matches feature two teams of three golfers and include 15 holes. Players tee off from a mat into a giant simulator screen that incorporates real fairway, rough and sand surfaces to hit from. When the ball lands about 50 yards away from the pin, players will transition to the “Green Zone,” a 3,800-square-foot rotating green that includes more than 600 actuators to make each hole unique.

All TGL matches this season will air on ESPN or ESPN2 and can be streamed on ESPN+. The championship is set for March 24-25. Here’s the upcoming schedule, with all matches airing on ESPN:

SoFi Center: Where is TGL golf located?

The SoFi Center finished construction in Fall 2024 on the campus of Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It’s nearly 250,000 square feet with a simulator screen that’s 64 by 53 feet, and a rotating green sits on a turntable 41 yards wide. It seats a capacity of 1,500 fans.
