After a pair of narrow defeats against two of the nation’s best squads, the Texas basketball team goes on the road against longtime rival Oklahoma Wednesday at 9 p.m.
Either Texas (11-5, 0-3) or fellow SEC newcomer Oklahoma (13-3, 0-3) will earn its first SEC win in men’s basketball in Norman, Oklahoma.
Texas freshman Tre Johnson, who had scored a total 22 points on a combined 7-of-26 shooting in his previous two games, broke out of his mini-slump with 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting in a 74-70 loss Saturday to Tennessee. However, he had just one basket in the final 11 minutes of the game while drawing plenty of attention from the SEC’s best defensive team.
Oklahoma will likely try the same defensive approach against Johnson and try to force the other Longhorns to make shots.
