The No. 5 Texas football team listed two key contributors — linebacker Morice Blackwell and EDGE Colton Vasek — as doubtful on the initial SEC student-athlete availability report, released on Wednesday.

Other than Blackwell and Vasek, the only Longhorns listed on the injury report are the four players who are on the mend with season-ending injuries: safety Derek Williams Jr. (knee) and running backs CJ Baxter (knee), Christian Clark (Achilles) and Velton Gardner (eye). Even with Blackwell and Vasek dealing with injuries, Texas (8-1, 4-1) heads to a road game against Arkansas on Saturday (11 a.m., ABC) with a relatively healthy roster.

Vasek was ruled out ahead of the Longhorns orchestrating a 49-17 drubbing of Florida. The 6-foot-5-inch, 260-pound Austin Westlake product played in the first eight games of the season, recording six total tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and two sacks as part of a deep rotation of edge defenders for defensive coordinator Pete Kwiatkowski.

Pro Football Focus has Vasek down for playing 59 snaps as a redshirt freshman. Vasek’s snap total ranks sixth among the EDGE group, trailing Trey Moore (334), Barryn Sorrell (318), Colin Simmons (229), Ethan Burke (183) and Justice Finkley (95).

According to PFF, Blackwell logged 21 snaps in the win over the Gators. A versatile linebacker who helps the defense with his ability to blitz and cover, Blackwell has played in the team’s nine games, recording 21 tackles.

The 6-foot-1-inch, 220-pound Arlington Martin product has also been a key member of the Texas special teams. Blackwell leads the Longhorns with three special teams tackles.

While Blackwell and Vasek are listed doubtful, Texas received a shot in the arm ahead of the Florida game with wide receiver Isaiah Bond and safety Andrew Mukuba returning to action.

Against the Gators, Bond looked like the electric playmaker he was before he injured his ankle in the first half of a 34-3 win over then-No. 18 Oklahoma on Oct. 12. Bond caught three passes from quarterback Quinn Ewers for 55 yards, including a 34-yard catch-and-run touchdown in the second half, and busted loose for 44 yards on an end-around, which was preceded by a 2-yard run on fourth-and-1 by running back Jerrick Gibson en route to the offense’s first score (a 29-yard pass from Ewers to wide receiver Matthew Golden).

Bond has 26 receptions for 435 yards and five touchdowns in eight games. Those totals rank third, second and second among all Longhorns.

Mukuba suffered a knee injury late in the team’s 30-15 loss to then-No. 5 Georgia, which forced him to miss the team’s 27-24 road win over then-No. 24 Vanderbilt on Oct. 26. Mukuba recorded a season-high six tackles against Florida and notched his second interception of the season on the second play of the third quarter.

Defensive lineman Alfred Collins got his hand on a pass attempt by quarterback Aidan Warner. Mukuba settled under the wobbly ball, picking it off and returning it nine yards to the 31-yard line of the Gators. Four plays later, the Ewers-to-Bond touchdown added to a massive Texas lead, putting the Longhorns up 42-0 with 12:52 on the clock.

Texas leads the SEC with 14 interceptions.
