Canadian Leylah Fernandez advanced to the second round of the Qatar Open by winning against Belgian qualifier Greet Minnen 6-1, 6-2 at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha on Sunday.
Fernandez, ranked No 27, will face No 8 seed Emma Navarro next.
