While there aren’t too many big names on the men’s side of the game taking to the court today, the WTA action in Doha more than makes up for that with Aryna Sabalenka (26), Coco Gauff (20) and Elena Rybakina (25) all beginning their campaigns.
19:37 CET – We have another upset and it’s the biggest one yet! World number one Aryna Sabalenka (26) has been knocked out in Doha, losing 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 to Ekaterina Alexandrova (30)
18:36 CET – Yoshihito Nishioka (29) is through at Delray Beach thanks to a 6-3, 6-4 win over Aleksandar Vukic (28).
In Marseille meanwhile, Luca van Asshe (20) and Jan-Lennard Struff (34) have both made it through.
17:15 CET – Sixth seed Jessica Pegula (30) is also through to the third round in Doha after negotiating her tie with Elina Svitolina (30), winning 6-3, 7-6.
16:45 CET – Ons Jabeur (30) is through to the third round in Doha after downing seventh seed Zheng Qinwen (22) 6-4, 6-2. For Jabeur, the win is her first over a top-10 opponent on hard court since 2023!
Over in Marseille, Alexander Bublik (27) is through to the second round after beating veteran Richard Gasquet (38) 6-4, 6-4.
14:51 CET – Fifth seed Elena Rybakina (25) has successfully reached the third round in Doha after cruising past Peyton Stearns (23) 6-2, 6-4.
In the first big shock of the day, third seed Coco Gauff (20) has been dumped out, however, losing 6-2, 7-5 to Marta Kostyuk (22) in their second-round meeting!
14:35 CET – The day’s play is underway in Marseille with Daniel Altmaier (26) easing past Luca Nardi (21) 6-2, 6-2 to move into the second round.
14:30 CET – A couple more winners to report from Doha, Sofia Kenin (26) has advanced after downing fellow American Alycia Parks (24) 7-6, 3-6, 6-2.
Belgium’s Elsie Mertens (29) is also through to the third round after beating Cristina Busca (27) 6-2, 6-3.
13:41 CET – Jasmine Paolini (28) has eased through in Qatar with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Caroline Garcia (31), while Linda Noskova (20) has claimed a 6-2, 6-3 victory over world number 20 Yulia Putinsteva (30).
11:15 CET – The fun in Doha will begin in 45 minutes with a clash between world number four Jasmine Paolini (28) and Caroline Garcia (31).
Coco Gauff (20) and Elena Rybakina (25) will begin their tournaments shortly after that before Aryna Sabalenka (26) takes to the court this evening.
