It’s the start of another busy week on the tennis calendar, with tournaments in Dubai, Doha and Rio de Janeiro taking centre stage.
17:47 CET – Peyton Stearns (23) has progressed in Dubai, with the American battling past Ons Jabeur (30) in two competitive sets, 7-6(6), 6-4.
17:08 CET – Hungary’s Fabian Marozsan (25) is through in Doha after a convincing 7-5, 6-3 triumph over wildcard Aziz Dougaz (27).
Meanwhile, at the WTA event in Dubai, Veronika Kudermetova (27) recovered from a set down to defeat the in-form Ekaterina Alexandrova (30) 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.
16:22 CET – Jiri Lehecka (23) looked in good form in Doha as he eased past Grigor Dimitrov (33) 6-4, 6-4 to move into the second round. The latter was making his first appearance after retiring in the first round at the Australian Open.
Up next in Qatar is a clash of Grand Slam champions as Carlos Alcaraz (21) takes on veteran Marin Cilic (36).
You can follow that live here.
15:27 CET – Fernando Verdasco (41), who is set to retire from tennis this week in Doha, has won his opening-round doubles match with Novak Djokovic (37), beating Karen Khachanov (28) and Alexander Bublik (27) 6-1, 6-1.
14:50 CET – Christopher O’Connell (30) is the first player to win in Doha, battling past Lebanese player Hady Habib (26) in two really hard-fought sets, 7-6(7), 7-6(3).
14:15 CET – After winning her maiden WTA 1000 title in Doha on Saturday, Amanda Anisimova (23) has joined runner-up Jelena Ostapenko (27) in being dumped out of Dubai, after falling 2-6, 3-6 to fellow American McCartney Kessler (25). Clearly, their efforts last week have taken it out of them.
