LAKE WORTH, Fla. (WPEC) — Infamous rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine, also known as Daniel Hernandez, is suing Lake Worth LA Fitness for damages of over $1 million after he was violently attacked in 2023.

Hernandez filed the six-page lawsuit in the Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit in Palm Beach County on Wednesday.

According to the complaint, Hernandez was attacked by three members of the Latin Kings gang while he was at the LA Fitness located at 8888 Lantana Road in Lake Worth on March 21, 2023. The assault resulted in serious injuries and the theft of personal property from Hernandez.

The lawsuit accuses LA Fitness, operated by Fitness International, LLC, of failing to provide adequate security measures to protect its members and guests. Hernandez’s legal team argues that the gym had a non-delegable duty to ensure the safety of its patrons, especially given the rise in violent crime in the area.

The complaint outlines several specific failures on the part of LA Fitness, including inadequate security personnel and measures to deter and prevent criminal attacks, failure to enforce policies to keep inherently violent and dangerous individuals out of the gym, lack of proper training for employees to handle and prevent such incidents, and insufficient video surveillance and other security infrastructure.

Hernandez’s lawsuit includes a count of negligence against Fitness International, LLC. The complaint asserts that the gym’s negligence directly led to the assault and robbery, causing Hernandez to suffer physical injuries, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, medical expenses, and loss of income and earning capacity.

According to the complaint, Hernandez is demanding a jury trial. The lawsuit seeks compensation for the damages incurred, as well as post-judgment interest, costs, and attorneys’ fees.
