It’s been a nail-biting few days at Le Golf National, we’ve seen some incredible golf throughout the first three rounds of the women’s olympic golf tournament.
The stars of the show far have been France’s own Céline Boutier, who lit up the course at Le Golf National with a seven-under 65, giving her a three-shot lead after round one of the tournament. Slovenia’s Pia Babnik who shot a six-under second round to head out on day three in the penultimate group, and Switzerland’s Morgane Metraux who carded two eagles on the front nine in the second round. She ended up heading in to day three in the lead at six-under, one-shot ahead of China’s Ruoning Yin.
World number one Nelly Korda started strong in the second round, but faltered with a quadruple bogey on the 17th hole, which dropped her six shots behind the leader. This left her tied for 12th position heading into moving day.
Morgane Metraux continued her run into moving day at Le Golf National, opening with a birdie on the first hole and finishing her front nine one-under par, but New Zealand’s Lydia Ko, Columbia’s Mariajo Uribe and USA’s Rose Zhang joined her for a four-way tie for the lead on the back nine. Australia’s Hannah Green also stormed up the leaderboard after a six-under third round saw her go from 29th position at 3-over par to tied for 11th place at 3-under par.
The third round finished up with Morgane Metraux and Lydia Ko tied for the lead at nine-under par, Rose Zhang and Miyu Yamashita sitting two shots back at seven-under. Only 18 holes left to decide who gets the gold, silver, and bronze medals.
