There is no shortage of action on Saturday, as this weekend’s Super Screener features nine races on that day, but Mike Shutty perhaps saves the best for last with a longshot play in the Pippin Stakes on Sunday at Oaklawn.
If you’re not already a subscriber, now is a great time to jump on board, as you can get every week of Super Screener now through the Kentucky Derby for just $97. The Super Screener subscription also includes daily Power Picks and Horses to Single reports.
As for the Pippin (click for free Brisnet PPs), there is a clear favorite here in No. 1 Corningstone, but Shutty does not have much interest in her. Instead, he casts his gaze on a couple of 15-1 morning line horses.
“This is the lone stakes (in America) on Sunday, and it offers an intriguing wagering opportunity,” Shutty writes. “For the win, Super Screener has landed on a couple of longshots: Indy Label and Neom Beach.
“Indy Label broke her maiden against claimers but did it in a big way and came right back to beat winners, winning in a balanced way showing a beautiful distribution of energy. She wasn’t great off her long layoff, but form-cycle analysis pattern indicates she is going in the right direction.”
Each race in Super Screener includes Top Win Contender, Most Reliable Board Hitter, Top Value and Top Longshot designations. While Indy Label is technically Shutty’s “top pick,” Neom Beach features prominently in all categories and the wagering strategy.
“Form-cycle analysis is projecting a new lifetime top for Neom Beach,” Shutty says. “She is effective on both turf and dirt and won on turf last out but looks good to improve here on dirt.
“There is plenty of value to be had in this race.”
