SUNY New Paltz will begin defense of its 2024 SUNY Athletic Conference playoff title on Dec. 6-7 with Fredonia and Buffalo State visiting – those are the first two home games at the Athletics and Recreation Center.
New Paltz (25-4) beat Geneseo 52-47 in the SUNYAC title game. The Hawks beat Penn State Harrisburg in the NCAA Division III tournament opener and bowed to Baldwin Wallace in the second round.
The Hawks will play seven non-conference games, highlighted by a trip to Las Vegas over the Christmas holidays to take part in the D3Hoops Classic. The Hawks will face California Lutheran on Dec. 28 and Colorado College on Dec. 29. Lutheran won the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
The Hawks’ non-conference schedule begins Nov. 9 with a game at Saint Joseph’s Patchogue and Nov. 14 at Liberty League champion Vassar, in Poughkeepsie. New Palt also travels to Newburgh to face Skyline Conference regular-season runner-up Mount Saint Mary on Dec. 1.
The SUNYAC schedule remains constant with 18 contests; however, Geneseo and Brockport have left the conference, replaced by Canton and Morrisville.
Jamie Seward is headed into his 18th season as head coach. The Hawks are 330-140 during his tenure, posting eight 20-win seasons, including the last five. New Paltz won the SUNYAC playoff title in 2013, 1016, 2017, 2019, 2020, 2022 and 2024.
