We’re all waiting for the Golden State Warriors to climb back to the top of the NBA’s mountain. And while we wait, it seems like the team’s Summer League squad might do exactly that.
The Warriors continued their dominant summer run on Friday, beating the Oklahoma City Thunder 90-83 to advance to the Summer League Playoffs. The Dubs have gone a perfect 4-0 at the Las Vegas Summer League, after sweeping the California Classic Summer League, where they went 3-0. Who says you need to lose games??
While arguably the three most high-profile players on the team’s Summer League roster (Brandin Podziemski, Trayce Jackson-Davis, and Gui Santos) weren’t playing on Friday, plenty of others stepped up. The team’s lone 2024 draft pick, slick-shooting center Quinten Post, came off the bench to score 10 points in just 14 minutes of action (with three rebounds, one assist, and one steal), and made a pair of shots from beyond the arc.
Pat Spencer, who spent last year on a two-way contract with the Dubs, continued his brilliant summer, netting 17 points on 8-for-10 shooting, while dishing out seven assists.
Veteran Kevin Knox II had 14 points and 10 rebounds off the bench (and was a team-high +15), while sparkplug rookie Yuri Collins filled up the stat sheet with 13 points, six rebounds, and three assists. Recently-signed two-way contract Daeqwon Plowden had 13 points, three rebounds, two assists, and one hell of a highlight-reel block.
That wasn’t his only highlight!
The Dubs play the Miami Heat on Sunday, and if they win that game then they’ll march into the Las Vegas Summer League championship game.
Hey, all trophies are worth celebrating.
