Things didn’t start out well for Andrew Booth as the coaching staff wanted to see what he was working with in game action. On an early play, Dallas left him with no safety help and he was forced to take Trey Tucker down field in deep coverage. It didn’t go well as Booth didn’t track the ball and allowed the incompletion. From that point forward though, he was a maniac as a tackler. Booth made no less than four outstanding open-field tackles on his way to eight overall. In a world where corners don’t like to tackle, that stood out and bodes well for him to stick around.
Meanwhile the other cornerback the front office went out and added, Kemon Hall, was tremendous. Hall ended up being PFF’s highest-graded defender for the contest, with an elite 90.3 overall grade and 92.3 in coverage. He was sticky in coverage, broke on a pass to pick it off and race 69 yards for the touchdown, and even pressured the QB twice. A castoff of San Francisco this camp, he’s making the most of his second stint in Dallas.
