Cut the ribbons and hit the greens. The brand new Staten Island Junior Golf Annex celebrated its formal opening at LaTourette Golf Course on Sunday afternoon.
The site, which opened to the public last month, is part of City Parks Play’s expanding golf program, joining the Junior Golf Center in Brooklyn and another annex in Queens. The 10,450 square foot project includes a six-stall driving range, brand new putting green, and chipping area at Staten Island’s LaTourette Golf Course (1001 Richmond Hill Rd.) The facility – which cost approximately $200,000 to construct and took three months to complete – serves to provide free golf instruction for local youths ages 7 through 16.
