Star jockey loses tip of finger from horse bite in graphic injury
Leading Queensland jockey James Orman has been sent for X-rays after the tip of his finger was bitten off by a horse on Tuesday morning.
Orman, who finished second to William Pike in last seasons National Jockeys’ Title, told Punters the incident occurred while applying a tongue tie to the Rob Heathcote-trained Prince Of Boom when the horse grabbed a slight hold of his finger.
“It just took the tip off when I was putting the tongue tie on,” Orman said.
“Definitely felt it and I’m just getting X-rays at the minute.”
Orman holds a comfortable lead in the Queensland metropolitan jockeys’ premiership with 30 winners for the season and was booked to ride four gallopers at Wednesday’s Ipswich card.
