Stanislas Wawrinka of Switzerland will take on Daniil Medvedev of Russia in an interesting first-round matchup at 2025 Amro Open in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Wawrinka is trying as much as he can to hold off retirement, still playing on the main tour of the ATP despite turning 40 in March 28. Wawrinka has lost his last four matches, including a four-set defeat at the hands of Lorenzo Sonego 6-4 5-7 7-5 7-5 in the first round of the Australian Open. He also crashed out in the first round of the Open Occitanie Open, bowing to Arthur Cazaux 6-4 6-3. Medvedev also joins the fray in Rotterdam, looking to erase the memory of a second-round loss to American Learner Tien 6-3 7-6(4) 6-7(8) 1-6 7-6(7). A three-time Australian Open finalist, Medvedev can re-establish himself as a fearsome player on the tour by making a deep run at this ATP 500 event.
