St. Scholastica’s Mike Heffernan steps down as head football coach
DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – The College of St. Scholastica is looking for a new leader for their football team after head coach Mike Heffernan announced he is stepping down.
Heffernan will return to his alma mater Elmhurst University where he will become the head coach of their football team.
In seven seasons with the Saints, Heffernan went 16-32 and helped guide the program through a change of conference.
St. Scholastica Athletics released the following statement:
“We cannot thank Mike enough for the legacy he leaves behind, and while we will miss him on the sidelines, he will always be a valued member of the St. Scholastica family. Mike leaves behind a lasting impact that will continue to shape our program for years to come. We extend our deepest gratitude for his dedication and wish him nothing but success in the next chapter.”
The Saints also announced that the search for a new head coach will begin immediately.
