Players looking to scratch some more of that Powerwash Simulator itch will get an opportunity to do just that on an entirely new playground come March 27 when indie game Sports: Renovations releases on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.

Developed by Polish studio Goat Gamez and published by Dear Villagers, the title tasks players with an important job: Renovate the local basketball court to save it from being scrapped by the neighborhood’s greedy real estate developer. Played from a first-person perspective, the game has users clean and repair the venue while discovering its illustrious past by finding memorabilia and other remnants of its glory days. This adds a narrative hook to the gameplay and is exactly the kind of wholesome story one might need after a hard day of work.

Though things start with the local basketball court, other dilapidated sports facilities will need to be renovated, from gyms to boxing studios. In-between jobs, players need to upgrade their gear and base with the money they earn from these renovations. Collected souvenirs from the saved locations can be showcased at the player’s office and come with some fun sports trivia.

There is even a little bit of The Sims in Sports: Renovations as well, since some venues will put their post-renovation interior design into the player’s hands.

A free demo of Sports: Renovations is now available on Steam. This slice of the game takes place at an old boxing venue and functions as sort of a prequel to the main story.
