Yessoufou is a McDonald’s All-American
St. Joseph senior Tounde Yessoufou has been named to the prestigious high school McDonald’s All-American Boys Basketball Team.
Yessoufou is a 6-foot-6 inch wing. The Baylor signee will play for the West squad in the 2025 McDonald’s Boys East-West All-Star Game April 1 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Yessoufou moved up to second place on the all-time California high school boys scoring list in St. Joseph’s 76-67 non-league win over Richmond Salesian College Prep at Contra Costa College in San Pablo Saturday night. Yessoufou led the Knights (22-1) with 23 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Yessoufou passed Darnell Robinson of Emeryville Emery then Jarod Lucas of Hacienda Heights Los Altos Saturday to move into second place on the prep boys state career scoring list. Yessoufou has 3,372 points career points at St. Joseph. State leader DeMarcus Nelson scored 3,462 points for Vellejo then Sacramento Sheldon from 2001-2004.
Knights point guard Julius Price scored 16 points in balanced St. Joseph scoring and racked up six assists Saturday. Gunner Morini scored 14 points for St. Joseph, and Matas Siskaukas had 10.
The game Saturday matched two teams ranked in the national 100, No. 16 St. Joseph and No. 45 Salesian College Prep (19-2). St. Joseph will play two Mountain League road road games this week, Tuesday at San Luis Obispo and at Atascadero Friday. Both will start at 6:30 p.m.

Jovi Villalobos of the Lompoc High School boys basketball team and Lucero Abundiz of the Santa Maria girls soccer team are the Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Round Table (NSBCART) Male and Female Athletes of the Week respectively for the week ending Jan. 26.
Villalobos scored a total of 26 points in Lompoc’s two Ocean League wins last week, including 12 in a big 62-48 home win over Santa Maria Friday night. Lompoc is in first place in the Ocean League at 4-0.
Abundiz scored a total of 11 goals and had five assists in the last three Santa Maria games, all wins. The Saints (17-1-2, 5-0) lead the Sunset League.
Abundiz scored all five goals in her team’s 5-1 league home win over Pioneer Valley Friday night.
