WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) – The Buffalo Bills opening up AFC playoff action at Highmark Stadium Sunday, hosting the Denver Broncos in an AFC Wild Card weekend matchup.

Broncos strike first in the 1st when Bo Nix hits Troy Franklin for a 43-yard touchdown.7-nothing Denver.

All Bills after that. 2nd quarter James Cook finds paydirt from 5 yards out. 10-7 Bills.

3rd quarter, 13-7 Bills. On a 4th and 1 Allen finds Ty Johnson in the back of the endzone for a 24-yard TD. 21-7 Bills.

4th quarter Allen connects with Curtis Samuel, who cuts and breaks tackles for a 56-yard touchdown. 28-7 Bills.

Buffalo rolls to the next round with a 31-7 win over Denver.

“We just wanted to come out and execute well. We ran the ball well. Our offensive line did a heck of a job all day. Jimbo ran the ball hard, Ty and Ray. I hate what happened to Ray. I feel like that doesn’t happen too often in this offense. Hate that feeling that I have for him right now but got to see him, he’s doing ok. At the end of the day we just wanted to come out and play our best football and I feel we did that today,” said Josh Allen.

“We knew it was going to be a battle and it was. They’re a well-coached team with, a lot of talent. I thought our players played extremely well, especially in the 3rd and the 4th quarter. Played good complimentary football. Took care of the ball. The line of scrimmage was the way it needed to be for us to win. That’s the important facet for us every week,” said Sean McDermott.

Staying on the ice, the Watertown Wolves split a weekend series with Poughkeepsie at the Fairgrounds Ice Arena, beating the Venom 4-1 Friday night but falling to Poughkeepsie 6-4 last night.

With the loss the Wolves stand at 13-9-1 overall. In 2nd place in the FPHL’s Empire division. 19 points behind 1st place Binghamton.

Wolves coach Justin Coachman pleased with his team’s play since taking over as bench boss a few weeks back.

“Just how we’ve come together after these past couple of weeks. I know it was a big chance about a month ago here and we had a lot of guys that decided they wanted to leave but the core group of guys stuck around, they stuck with me. We’ve done a lot here to build this team and put it back together with some newer pieces. I think we’ve greatly improved upon what we had even before I stepped in here,” said Justin Coachman.

“What drew my attention was just how good of a young team they are. Usually, you don’t find the chemistry in young players nowadays and this team has gelled together pretty quickly. I’m very impressed and I’m very interested to see how the rest of the years is gonna go for us,” said Kyle Powell.
