Five of the eight basketball teams competing in the state basketball tournaments will be playing at Mount Vernon High School throughout Saturday. Nooksack Valley girls start the day with a noon tip off, followed by Lynden Christian girls at 2 p.m., Lynden Christian boys at 4 p.m., Lynden boys at 6 p.m. and Lynden girls at 8 p.m.
After a 1-4 start in California, Western’s softball team has rallied 10 straight wins. The Vikings finally return home to play at Viking Field for the first time this season in a doubleheader against Simon Fraser. Western recently faced Simon Fraser on the road, defeating them 3-0. Maleah Andrews is off to another hot start this season with a .449 batting average, 14 RBIs and two home runs.
The Padden Mudfest is a 5K and 10K trail run with unique conditions, including winding trails, steep ups, rocks and roots, and muddy conditions. Both start at the upper trails above the lake and finish with a flat lakefront run along Lake Padden.
