Greenville, S.C. – Sophomore Andrew Korytoski led the Western Carolina men’s golf team on Saturday sitting in a tie for 23rd after 36 of the scheduled 54 holes at the 54th Furman Intercollegiate, hosted by the Paladins at the on-campus, par-71,7131-yard Furman University Golf Course.
Korytoski is tied with 10 others with a two-round score of 2-over par 144 with rounds of 3-over par 74 and 1-under par 70. The Cataula, Ga., product carded seven birdies over Saturday’s 36 holes. After moving to 4-over par eight holes into the second round, he played the final 10 holes at 5-under par with five pars and five of his seven birdies to shoot 1-under 70 and looks to carry that momentum into Sunday’s final round.
For the Catamounts, junior transfer Callum Waugh is tied for 55th with a two-round total of 6-over par 148 (72-76), followed by freshman Chase Cline in a tie for 76th after carding rounds of 75 and 78 for 153. Rounding out the scoring five are junior Ivan Ninkovic and sophomore Jace Butcher knotted in a tie for 84th at 156. Ninkovic posted scores of 79 and 77 while Butcher carded consecutive rounds of 78.
Texas A&M posted rounds of 274 and 281 for a two-round score of 555 to lead the tournament host Furman (556) by a stroke entering Sunday’s final round. Wake Forest is four strokes off the pace at 559 in third, followed by USC Aiken and Davidson tied for fourth with matching scores of 576.
With A&M atop the heap, a trio of Aggies – two in the scoring five and an individual – comprise the podium plus one entering Sunday’s final round. Phichaksn Maichon carded a tournament-low round of 6-under par 65 over the opening 18 holes before a 1-under second round to lead the field. Texas A&M teammates Aaron Pounds and individual Jacob Sosa are tied with Scotty Kennon from Wake Forest in a three-way tie for second a stroke back at 136.
The final round opens Sunday morning with set tee times off both the first and 10th tee boxes at the Furman University Golf Course. WCU’s scoring five is set to open on the back nine beginning at 9:19 a.m. Live scoring through the Scoreboard app powered by Clippd is available online.

Payne, Bulau Among Top Ten at App State Individual
Lenoir, N.C. – Sophomore Dalton Payne and senior Kiefer Bulau sit among the top 10 at the App State Individual hosted at the Cedar Rock Country Club following Saturday’s first of two rounds.
Payne led the four Catamount individuals with a 3-over par 75, tied with three others after 18 holes having posted three birdies. He is three strokes off the pace behind UNCG teammates Keenan Royalty and Liam Percy who both shot even-par 72 on Saturday.
Bulau is tied with Will Tharin of Davidson, carding a 5-over par 75 in the first round, and is five strokes in arrears of the leaders. The Canadian-born striker posted one birdie on Saturday and is just two strokes back of the four-way tie for sixth.
Rounding out WCU’s four entrants are sophomore Michael Bevins in a tie for 18th at 7-over par 79 and redshirt junior Josh Lendach in a tie for 22nd with a 9-over par 81. Bevins had a pair of birdies on the back nine after a tumultuous front nine, while Lendach birdied the par-5 16th.
The final round gets underway with tee times beginning just before 9 a.m.
