Straight No Chaser earned the highest speed figures among weekend stakes winners for his victory Sunday in the Grade 2 Santa Anita Sprint Championship.
The 5-year-old son of Speightster, ridden by John Velazquez and trained by Dan Blacker, led at every call of the six-furlong sprint and won by 6 1/4 lengths. It was his first start since finishing fourth in the Runhappy (G3) in May and his second start of the year.
Straight No Chaser got a 109 Brisnet Speed Rating and a 104 Beyer Speed Figure for the performance.
Subsanador got the second-highest figures, a 107 Brisnet and a 102 Beyer, for his win by a head in the California Crown (G1). Runner-up National Treasure and Newgate, who was third by a nose, also received 102 Beyers.
