Did you catch Howard Wolowitz in the Grade 1 Franklin-Simpson at Kentucky Downs on Saturday? How about Truly Quality in the Colonial Cup in Virginia?

Those two colts earned the top Brisnet Speed Rating among last week’s stakes winners, both garnering a 105.

Howard Wolowitz is a 3-year-old Munnings colt trained by Jose D’Angelo. Unraced as a 2-year-old, he is 2-for-4 this year, and the Franklin-Simpson was his first graded-stakes start. With Irad Ortiz Jr. riding, he took the lead in the stretch of the 6 1/2-furlong sprint and won by a length.

Truly Quality, a 4-year-old son of Quality Road, has a 6: 2-2-2 record this year for trainer Jonathan Thomas, and he has finished in the money in 10 of his 11 career starts. The Colonial Cup was his first stakes start, and Manuel Franco guided him to a 2 1/2-length win over odds-on favorite Webslinger. 

The top Beyer Speed Figure of the weekend, 107, went to Cogburn for his win in the Kentucky Downs Turf Sprint (G2). Trained by Steve Asmussen, the 5-year-old son of Not This Time is 3-for-3 this year, all in graded stakes. Irad Ortiz picked up another victory here, leading all the way and winning by 3 1/4 lengths.
